Free art? Free art!
Saturday was Art and Found Day, and all over the globe, artists dropped their artwork in public spaces for people to discover and take home for free! When I saw another local artist posting about it a couple of weeks ago, it sounded like such a fun community-boosting event that I had to join.
I dropped three prints and some stickers at three locations in East Nashville that are meaningful to me, and all three drops were found and now have loving new homes!
Here’s where I made my drops:
The East Nashville Dog Park: This is where our dogs go to wrestle with other dogs practically every day. It’s like their second home. Sandy has even been christened “the dog park matriarch” by some people at the park.
Wilburn Street Tavern: When I first moved out on my own in 2015 and got an apartment for my son and me, I moved to the McFerrin Park neighborhood. I met my husband around the time the Wilburn Street Tavern was fairly new, and we had a really nice date there one night, cutting up with Miss Paulette. It’s just a really nice memory I have. When I made the drop I couldn’t believe how much the neighborhood had changed in just six years!
Pavilion East / Shoppes on Fatherland: It’s not a pavilion anymore, but in 2017 it was an open-air venue where my best friend and I threw our Fourth of July barbecue/wedding, and danced to the sound of fireworks. It was truly romantic. And hot AF.
Thanks to everyone who participated in Art and Found Day! I had a blast and can’t wait to do it again.
